Regular Season Round 1: Alcobendas - La Roda 71-77

Another exciting game was between La Roda and Alcobendas where La Roda (1-0) beat Alcobendas (0-1) on the road 77-71. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-17. But Alcobendas won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when La Roda won last quarter 22-17. They made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Alcobendas turnovers. Alcobendas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Javier Hernandez (201-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four La Roda players scored in double figures. Forward Alejandro Fortes (201-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and power forward Luis de la Pena (200-94) added 6 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Alcobendas. Alcobendas' coach Jose Antonio Ramirez rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. La Roda will play against Gran Canaria B (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Alcobendas will play against Getafe (#8) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
