Regular Season Round 1: Yamagata - Gunma 46-63

Rather expected game when Yamagata (1-1) was defeated at home by Gunma (1-1) 63-46 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gunma. Yamagata was better in second period 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and point guard Masashi Obuchi (182-83) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. At the losing side guard Masanari Masanari (186-91) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican center Matt Lopez (213-92, college: Rider) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma will have a break next round. Yamagata will play again at home against Gunma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
