Regular Season Round 1: Iwate Big Bulls - Fukushima 85-89

Not a big story in a game when Iwate Big Bulls (0-2) were defeated at home by Fukushima (2-0) 89-85 on Saturday. Iwate Big Bulls trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 31-24 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 85-89 at the end of the game. Strangely Iwate Big Bulls outrebounded Fukushima 52-31 including a 25-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Iwate Big Bulls were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and point guard Shinya Murakami (172-91) chipped in 20 points. At the losing side American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 21 rebounds and point guard Shota Onodera (183-94) scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Iwate Big Bulls' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fukushima will have a break next round. Iwate Big Bulls will play again at home against Fukushima (#1) and hope to win that game.
