Regular Season Round 1: Kotwica - GTK Gliwice 65-77

Very significant was GTK Gliwice's (#7) 77-65 road victory against Kotwica. It looked good early as Kotwica took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then GTK Gliwice had a 18-9 second period charge getting the lead and Kotwica was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-77. GTK Gliwice dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kotwica's 30. GTK Gliwice forced 23 Kotwica turnovers. Pawel Zmarlak (195-82, agency: Promotex) nailed 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Michal Jedrzejewski (186-98) accounted for 14 points. Guard Adrian Sulinski (185-89, agency: Promotex) came up with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Maciej Strzelecki (204-87) added 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Kotwica in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. GTK Gliwice will play against Sokol Lancut (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kotwica will play against GKS Tychy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
