Regular Season Round 2: Shimane SM - Kagoshima 80-59

Rather predictable result when Shimane Magic (2-0) outscored at home Kagoshima (0-2) 80-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Shimane Magic. Kagoshima was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Kagoshima's 24. They outrebounded Kagoshima 38-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) who scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. Canadian center Chad Posthumus (211-91, college: Morehead St.) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Ryuichiro Nakazono (190-78) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Kagoshima's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Shimane Magic will face Orange Vikings (#4) in Matsuyama in the next round. Kagoshima will play at home against Kagawa FA and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
