Regular Season Round 9: Caballos - Toros 92-81

Bottom-ranked Caballos managed to get a third victory on Sunday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Toros in Aguadulce 92-81. The game was mostly controlled by Caballos. Toros managed to win third quarter 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Caballos dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 28. They outrebounded Toros 39-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. Caballos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international swingman Anell Alexis (200-90, college: Marist, agency: Octagon Europe) nailed 17 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and guard Carlos Johnson (193-88) accounted for 22 points and 5 rebounds. Five Caballos players scored in double figures. Point guard Joel Munoz (183-80, agency: Paris Global Sports) came up with 30 points and 7 assists and naturalized Honduran center Pedro Salazar (205-72) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Toros in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caballos (3-6) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Toros. Caballos will meet at home league's leader Panteras in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toros will play against Aguilas (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
