Very expected game when Atenas (0-3) lost to Echague (2-0) in Parana 84-90. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Atenas took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Echague had a 25-14 second period charge getting the lead and Atenas was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 84-90. The former international guard Matias Nocedal (192-90) scored 18 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Sebastian Uranga (200-89) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Echague players scored in double figures. American Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) responded with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Echague will play against Instituto (#3) in Cordoba in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Atenas will play on the road against Estudiantes C. (#7) in Concordia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
