Contern defeated Basket Esch in Luxembourg 84-67. The game was mostly controlled by Contern. Basket Esch managed to win third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Contern forced 22 Basket Esch turnovers. American swingman Manny Atkins (198-91, college: Georgia St.) fired 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Jesse Morgan (196-91, college: Temple) chipped in 23 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Serbian-Hungarian Momcilo Latinovic (198-89, college: N.Mexico Highlands, agency: Mansfield and Associates) produced 29 points and the former international Joe Biever (184-90) added 9 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Basket Esch will play next round against strong Sparta trying to get back on the winning streak. Contern will try to continue on its current victory against Bascharage in Kaerjeng.
