Loon Lions' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Royal Eagles (1-3) 72-59. Loon Lions forced 26 Royal Eagles turnovers and had a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Royal Eagles were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. International guard Tanya Broering (178-84) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and international power forward Fieke Ligthart (185-90) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Loon Lions' coach Molly McDowell allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Israeli guard Thea Lemberger (170-92, college: UCLA) responded with 20 points and Laura Steggink (183-97) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Defending champion left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Royal Eagles. Loon Lions will play against Rotterdam (#7) at home in the next round.
