The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gran Canaria (0-1) in Las Palmas on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by CB Canarias (1-0) 92-81. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-81. Forward Javier Beiran (200-87) fired 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Fran Vazquez (209-83) chipped in 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American Royce O'Neale (198-93, college: Baylor) produced 11 points and 5 rebounds and Croatia center Darko Planinic (210-90) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CB Canarias is looking forward to face Blusens Monbus (#16) in Santoago de Comp in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gran Canaria will play on the road against Andorra (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
