Regular Season Round 4: Aomori Watts - Gunma 64-81

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Aomori Watts (2-2) against fifth ranked Gunma (2-2) on Sunday night. Host Aomori Watts were defeated by Gunma in Aomori 81-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aomori Watts. The game was mostly controlled by Gunma. Aomori Watts was better in second period 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for Nigeria forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Masashi Obuchi (182-83) contributed with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. American center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Kenta Tateyama (188-90) added 15 points in the effort for Aomori Watts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gunma moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Aomori Watts. Gunma's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Fukushima at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aomori Watts will play against Iwate Big Bulls and hope to win that game.
