Regular Season Round 3: Chalons-Reims - Monaco 68-106

Everything went according to plan when Monaco (3-0) outscored on the road Chalons-Reims (1-2) 106-68 on Friday. The game without a history. Monaco led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Chalons-Reims' 28 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Monaco forced 20 Chalons-Reims turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Monaco made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American-Bulgaria point guard Dee Bost (188-89, college: Mississippi St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 assists. Ukrainian swingman Sergii Gladyr (196-88, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 21 points. Five Monaco players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Steven Smith (203-83, college: La Salle) with 25 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import power forward Tyler Cain (203-88, college: S.Dakota) scored 4 points and 12 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Monaco will face Hyeres-Toulon (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chalons-Reims will play against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
