Regular Season Round 5: Ryukyu GK - SeaHorses 69-89

An interesting game was also a 20-point tough home defeat of 3rd ranked Ryukyu GK in a game in Okinawa versus Aishin Sea Horses (#4) 89-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Ryukyu GK managed to win third quarter 28-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Aishin Sea Horses won last quarter 29-11. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ryukyu GK's 34. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) nailed 25 points for the winning side and the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) added 9 points respectively for Ryukyu GK in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses (3-2) moved-up to second place, which they share with Sendai 89ers and Kyoto Hannar. Loser Ryukyu GK dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Chiba Jets and Osaka Evessa. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ryukyu GK will play again against Aishin Sea Horses (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
