Regular Season Round 4: Jekabpils - Jurmala 80-65

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Jurmala (2-3) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Jekabpils (2-2) 80-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Jekabpils. Jurmala was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Jurmala 45-29 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jekabpils looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Rinalds Sirsnins (186-85) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Jekabpils players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Ugis Pinete (194-91) responded with 21 points and point guard Edgars Jeromanovs (186-86) scored 15 points and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Jekabpils moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Barons Riga and BK Ogre. Jurmala lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with three games lost. Jekabpils will have a break next round. Jurmala will play on the road against the league's leader Ventspils (#1) and hope to win that game.
