Regular Season Round 11: Halcones - Caballos 57-61

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Halcones (6-5) against fifth ranked Caballos (4-7) on Saturday night. Host Halcones were defeated by Caballos in a tough game in Panama City 57-61. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Halcones won third quarter 17-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Caballos won last quarter 19-16. Caballos outrebounded Halcones 39-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard CJ Rodriguez (188, college: S.Nazarene) who led his team to a victory scoring 6 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Mauricio Watson (196-77, college: Ouachita Baptist) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Ernesto Oglivie (203-89) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized American Ryan Abrahams (191-81, college: Hawaii-Hilo) scored 10 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Caballos maintains fifth place with 4-7 record. Halcones lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with five games lost. Caballos will meet at home higher ranked Aguilas (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones will play against Toros and hope to secure a win.
