The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Kyoto Hannar.'s (3-2) road victory over bottom-ranked Shiga L-Stars (0-5) 71-61 on Saturday. Shiga L-Stars were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 20-8 charge of Kyoto Hannar., which allowed them to win the game. Kyoto Hannar. had a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and center Samba Faye (205-87) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kyoto Hannar. moved-up to second place, which they share with SeaHorses and Sendai 89ers. Loser Shiga L-Stars still closes the standings with five games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will have a break next round. Shiga L-Stars will play again at home against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar.
