Regular Season Round 5: Toshiba BT - Niigata Albirex 77-63

An interesting game for Toshiba Thunders (4-2) which hosted in Kanagawa 4th placed Niigata Albirex (2-4). Third ranked Toshiba Thunders managed to get a 14-point victory 77-63. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Niigata Albirex was better in fourth quarter 25-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Niigata Albirex 45-25 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 19 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 15 points in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toshiba Thunders have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 4-2 record having just one point less than leader Tochigi Brex. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
