Regular Season Round 5: Toyota Alvark - Chiba Jets 76-80

Toyota Alvark (4-1) recorded its first loss in Tokyo. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Chiba Jets (2-3) 80-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. It looked good early as Toyota Alvark took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Chiba Jets took control getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and eventually winning the game that evening by 4 points. American center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-88, college: N.Mexico St.) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Chiba Jets moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Osaka Evessa and Ryukyu GK. Toyota Alvark at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Chiba Jets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyota Alvark will play again at home against Chiba Jets and hopes to get back on the winning track.
