Regular Season Round 5: Gunma - Fukushima 74-64

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Gunma and 3rd placed Fukushima had identical 3-2 record. This time Gunma used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Fukushima 74-64 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Gunma dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 20. They outrebounded Fukushima 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Hirotaka Kondo (187-82) who scored 17 points. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 18 points. American guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gunma have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 4-2 record behind leader Cyberdyne IR. Fukushima at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
