Regular Season Round 11: Correcaminos - Toros 85-82

Sixth-ranked Toros (3-8) made lots of trouble for third ranked Correcaminos (7-4) in Colon on Saturday. Correcaminos managed to secure only three-point victory 85-82. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 28-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Correcaminos made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized American forward Tyler Gaskins (193-92, college: St.Peter's) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Antonio Bumpus (190-89, college: Cumberlands) produced 24 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Joel Munoz (183-80, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 22 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Toros lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Correcaminos are looking forward to face league's leader Panteras in Panama City in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toros will play on the road against Halcones (#3) in Panama City and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
