Regular Season Round 3: Zaglebie - Pogon RS 65-54

There was a surprise result in Sosnowiec where Zaglebie (1-2) won against Pogon RS (0-2) 65-54 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 40-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zaglebie forced 19 Pogon RS turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Zaglebie made 8 blocks. Pogon RS was plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Jakub Czyz (205-95) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Nikodem Kowalski (200-95) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Zaglebie's coach Tomasz Sluzalek used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Mateusz Pawlik (180-92) who recorded 10 points and 6 rebounds and forward Przemyslaw Tomecki (196-88) added 9 points respectively. Zaglebie will face AZS PK in Krakow in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pogon RS will play at home against AZS PCz (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
