Regular Season Round 2: Grindavik - Keflavik 65-89

Date: October 8, 2016
Very important is a home loss of Grindavik (1-1) against Keflavik (1-1) on Saturday night. Host Grindavik was crushed by Keflavik in Grindavik 89-65. The game was mostly controlled by Keflavik. Grindavik managed to win second period 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Swingman Emelia Osk Gunnarsdottir (174-98) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Dominique Hudson (165-89, college: Gardner-Webb) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American swingman Ashley Grimes (175-91, college: UAB) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Petrunella Skuladottir (177-85) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Keflavik will meet at home Haukar (#6) in the next round. Grindavik will play against Skallagrimur (#4) in Borganes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
