Regular Season Round 3: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - ASVEL 93-77

An interesting game took place in Pau where ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (1-2) was upset on the court of Pau-Lacq-Orthez (2-1) 93-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Pau-Lacq-Orthez. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket was better in fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket 45-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. Pau-Lacq-Orthez looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard D.J. Cooper (183-90, college: Ohio) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. His fellow American import forward Antywane Robinson (203-84, college: Temple) helped adding 9 points and 10 rebounds. Four Pau-Lacq-Orthez players scored in double figures. Pau-Lacq-Orthez's coach Eric Bartecheky allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Serbian-Montenegrin forward Nikola Dragovic (206-87, college: UCLA, agency: BeoBasket) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) scored 17 points. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will face Gravelines-Dunkerque (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against Chalons-Reims (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
