Regular Season Round 3: Tromso - Baerum Basket 59-66

Rather expected game when Tromso (0-3) was defeated at home by Baerum Basket (2-1) 66-59 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 33-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Baerum Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Tromso's 24. Baerum Basket forced 20 Tromso turnovers. Strangely Tromso outrebounded Baerum Basket 38-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists. Gilchrese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Baerum Basket's coach Matthias Eckhoff used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was guard Henrik Lange (189-95) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Aslak Smalas (186-89) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Baerum Basket will face Froya Basket (#3) in Laksevag in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tromso will play on the road against Centrum (#4) in Oslo and hopes to get finally their first victory.
