Regular Season Round 3: Gran Canaria - Valencia 75-84

Date: October 9, 2016
Very predictable result in Las Palmas where Valencia Basket (2-1) defeated Gran Canaria (0-3) 84-75 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-18. But Gran Canaria won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. The former international swingman Fernando San Emeterio (199-84) helped adding 14 points. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-FYR Macedonia power forward Richard Hendrix (204-86, college: Alabama, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) with 12 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Croatia center Darko Planinic (210-90) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia Basket will have a break next round. Gran Canaria will play on the road against Unicaja Malaga (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
