Regular Season Round 2: Jarvenpaa - Lahti 73-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Lahti's (3-0) road victory over Jarvenpaa (1-1) 79-73 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Jarvenpaa won fourth quarter 28-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was guard Sami Ikavalko (187-89) who scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Rashad Smith (201-93, college: Tulsa) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Lahti's coach Arttu Mannelin allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Gambia power forward Pierre Jallow (203-79, college: William Jewell) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Arsene Towa (191-81) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lahti will face Porvoon Tarmo (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Jarvenpaa will play against Porvoon Tarmo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
