Regular Season Round 3: Gimle BBK - Asker Aliens 88-92 OT

Gimle BBK (1-1) recorded a loss in Bergen on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Asker Aliens (1-3) in overtime 92-88. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime then Gimle BBK managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Asker Aliens who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 8-4. Asker Aliens shot 24 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Gimle BBK only scored six points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was DR Congolese power forward Djo Yele (203-82) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international guard Espen Stien (186-86) chipped in 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Lars Espe (179-98) who recorded 23 points and 7 assists and guard Eivind Lamo (193-96) added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Gimle BBK players scored in double figures. Gimle BBK's coach Audun Eskeland rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Asker Aliens will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gimle BBK will play against Baerum Basket (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
