Regular Season Round 6: San-en - Yokohama BC 75-89

Sanen Neophoenix (5-1) recorded its first loss in Hamamatsu. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Yokohama BC (1-5) 89-75. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Sanen Neophoenix. It looked good early as Sanen Neophoenix took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Yokohama BC had a 26-11 second period charge getting the lead and Sanen Neophoenix was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-89. Point guard Masashi Hosoya (173-89) notched 39 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American-Bulgaria center Jason Washburn (210-90, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 21 points by American swingman Richard Roby (198-85) did not help to save the game for Sanen Neophoenix. Nigeria-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) added 10 points and 5 rebounds. Sanen Neophoenix's coach rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Yokohama BC left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Sanen Neophoenix at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Yokohama BC will play against Toyama Grouses (#5) on the road in the next round. Sanen Neophoenix will play against Niigata Albirex (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
