Regular Season Round 5: Quimsa - La Union 77-67
Date: October 9, 2016
Very predictable result when first ranked Quimsa (5-1) won against 8th ranked La Union (1-4) in Santiado Estero 77-67 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-67. The former international swingman Alexis Elsener (196-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American center Robert Battle (205-81, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Quimsa players scored in double figures. Quimsa's coach Silvio Jose Santander used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Jamaica center Torin Francis (210-83, college: Notre Dame) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Pablo Orlietti (207-90) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for La Union. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Quimsa. They maintain first place in Norte with 5-1 record. Loser La Union keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Quimsa will face league's second-placed San Martin Corrientes on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. La Union will play against Echague (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
