Regular Season Round 4: Cadi La Seu - Ferrol 65-74

There was a small surprise in Seu D'urgell where ninth ranked Universitario de Ferrol (2-2) defeated 6th ranked Cadi La Seu (2-2) 74-65. The guests were already 12 points ahead at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 19-14 last quarter charge of Cadi La Seu cut the lead to 74-65 at the end of the game. Strangely Cadi La Seu outrebounded Universitario de Ferrol 38-24 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by point guard Ana Suarez (170-87) who scored that evening 26 points and 6 assists and forward Maria Perez Araujo (182-97) supported her with 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds by Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86) did not help to save the game for Cadi La Seu. German point guard Svenja Brunckhorst (179-91) added 14 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Four Cadi La Seu players scored in double figures. Cadi La Seu's coach Joan Carles Pie rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Universitario de Ferrol moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Cadi La Seu. Universitario de Ferrol's next round opponent will be Gipuzkoa UPV (#13) in San Sebastian and are hoping to win another game. Cadi La Seu will play on the road against Al-Qazeres (#7) in Caceres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
