Regular Season Round 6: Weber Bahia - Obras Basket 63-62

Important game to mention about took place in Bahia Blanca. Top-ranked Weber Bahia (6-0) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Obras Basket (3-4) 63-62 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Obras Basket. Obras Basket was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 14-8 charge of Weber Bahia, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Obras Basket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) notched 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Hernan Jasen (199-78) supported him with 13 points. Even 14 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Dennis Horner (205-88, college: N.Carolina St.) did not help to save the game for Obras Basket. The former international forward Walter Herrmann (206-79) added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Weber Bahia have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Sur with 6-0 record. Obras Basket at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. Weber Bahia will play against Hispano Am. (#10) in Rio Gallegos in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Obras Basket will play at home against San Lorenzo (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
