Regular Season Round 4: Haneda Vickies - Denso Iris 56-76

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Haneda Vickies (2-1) in Tokyo on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by seventh ranked Denso Iris (2-1) 76-56. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Haneda Vickies. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-56. Denso Iris dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Haneda Vickies' 28. They outrebounded Haneda Vickies 49-31 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Denso Iris looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Haneda Vickies' players. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Sakura Akaho (182-96) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 18 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who added 18 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard LiQuan Luohe (165-91) responded with 22 points and center BenWang Jin (179-92) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Haneda Vickies' coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Denso Iris moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hitachi Cougars and Haneda Vickies. Denso Iris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Haneda Vickies will play again at home against Denso Iris (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
