Regular Season Round 4: Fujitsu RW - Hitachi Cougars 85-60

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Hitachi Cougars (2-1) against ninth ranked Fujitsu RW (1-2) on Friday night. Visiting Hitachi Cougars were crushed by Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki 85-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hitachi Cougars. It looked good early as Hitachi Cougars took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fujitsu RW had a 24-12 second period charge getting the lead and Hitachi Cougars were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-85. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 51-34 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fujitsu RW players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by the former international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and international point guard Mio Shinozaki (167-91) supported her with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. Even 8 points and 4 assists by Saki Matsumoto (176-94) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Cougars. Guard Yuki Kitamura (170-94) added 10 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Fujitsu RW left bottom position moving up to eighth place. Hitachi Cougars at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with Denso Iris and Haneda Vickies. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
