Regular Season Round 7: Kagoshima - Kumamoto V. 68-96

Everything went according to plan in Renova where third ranked Kumamoto V. (5-2) outscored 6th ranked Kagoshima (1-6) 96-68 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kumamoto V. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Kagoshima's 40 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Kagoshima 46-29 including a 33-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for power forward Ryota Nakanishi (199-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) helped adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. At the losing side Canadian center Chad Posthumus (211-91, college: Morehead St.) responded with 8 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Keisuke Matsuzaki (181-92) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kumamoto V. keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Hiroshima D. and Gunma. Kagoshima lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round. Kagoshima will play again at home against Kumamoto V. (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
