Regular Season Round 7: Hiroshima D. - Shimane SM 85-87

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Dragonflies (5-2) in Hiroshima on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Shimane Magic (6-1) 87-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Dragonflies. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Dragonflies' 28. It was a great evening for American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. Shimane Magic's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side guard Seiya Tanaka (186-91) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Daiji Yamada (200-81) scored 15 points. Five Dragonflies players scored in double figures. Shimane Magic keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Toyotsu FE. Dragonflies at the other side still keep top place with two games lost. They share the position with Gunma and Kumamoto V.. Shimane Magic will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dragonflies will play again at home against the league's leader Shimane Magic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
