There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Villarrobledo (1-3) won against at home higher ranked Casvi (2-2) 98-90 on Saturday. Casvi was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 31-18 charge of Villarrobledo, which allowed them to win the game. They shot 61.0 percent from the field. Villarrobledo outrebounded Casvi 31-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. Casvi was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Anthony McDonald (185-92, college: N.C.Central) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 8 assists and the other American import forward Reco McCarter (198-90, college: Campbell) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Walter Cabral (200-95, agency: Dynamics Global Management) responded with 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Jose Miguel Perez (202-96) scored 22 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Villarrobledo left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in Group B, which they share with Rivas and Lanzarote. Loser Casvi dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Villarrobledo will face higher ranked Quintanar (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
