Regular Season Round 4: Utrera - San Fernando 61-56

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Utrera and bottom-ranked San Fernando had identical 0-1 record. This time Utrera used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from San Fernando 61-56 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But San Fernando won third quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Utrera dominated on the defensive end, holding San Fernando to just 7 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Juan Toledo (190-96) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 rebounds and American forward David Atkinson (201, college: Salem Intern.) who added 10 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Daniel Tugores (185-95) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Jose Ruiz (200-97) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Utrera (1-1) left bottom position moving up to third place in Group D-B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser San Fernando still closes the standings with two games lost. Utrera will face Huelva (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. San Fernando will play against the league's leader San Juan (#1) in San Juan del Puerto and hopes to get finally their first victory.
