Top ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (5-2) recorded its second loss in Tokyo on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (5-2) 89-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-74. Toshiba Thunders made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 38-24 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. His fellow American import forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Hitachi SR. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play again at home against the league's second-placed Toshiba Thunders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
