Regular Season Round 2: Amsterdam - Groningen 65-97

The game in Amsterdam supposed to be also quite interesting. Groningen (2-0) played at the court of Amsterdam (0-2). Groningen smashed Amsterdam 97-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Amsterdam managed to win third quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Groningen outrebounded Amsterdam 42-23 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American point guard Lance Jeter (191-88, college: Nebraska) scored 27 points and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Andrew Smith (206-92, college: Liberty) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. Groningen's coach Erik Braal felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Surinamese Sergio de Randamie (201-84, college: Houston) responded with 26 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman Dimeo Van Der Horst (197-91) scored 9 points and 6 assists. Groningen will meet Weert (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Amsterdam will have a break next round.
