Regular Season Round 7: Osaka Evessa - SeaHorses 69-76

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Osaka Evessa (2-5) was defeated at home by second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (4-3) 76-69 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-7. But Osaka Evessa won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Sea Horses dominated on the defensive end, holding Osaka Evessa to just 7 points in first quarter. Aishin Sea Horses had a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 19 points. American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Five Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aishin Sea Horses maintains second place with 4-3 record having just two points less than leader Tochigi Brex, which they share with Ryukyu GK. Osaka Evessa lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round. Osaka Evessa will play again at home against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
