There was a minor upset in Madrid where ASEFA Estudiantes (2-1) was defeated by Leganes (2-1) 78-68 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 42-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Leganes forced 23 ASEFA Estudiantes turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Christina Marinacci (185-91, college: USC) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Marta Perez (177-94) chipped in 22 points and 4 steals. Four Leganes players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Clara Rodriguez (184-96) who recorded 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Irene San Andres added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Leganes will face Adareva (#8) in SC Laguna in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. ASEFA Estudiantes will play on the road against Antiguo Boscos (#9) in Zaragoza and hope to win that game.
