Regular Season Round 4: Huima - Espoo Utd 44-71
Date: October 15, 2016
Bottom-ranked Aanekosken (0-3) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their third consecutive match to fourth ranked Espoo Utd (3-1) 71-44 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Espoo Utd led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aanekosken to just 5 points in first quarter. American forward Shenita Landry (188-87, college: Temple) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Ellen Nurmi (183-93, college: Tampa) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Dyana Pierre (185-93, college: S.Illinois, agency: Merit Management Group) produced 12 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Dana Jones (180-93, college: Grand Canyon) added 5 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Espoo Utd moved-up to second place, which they share with HyPo. Loser Aanekosken still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Helmi Basket. Espoo Utd will meet ViVe (#4) in the next round. Aanekosken will play against ViVe (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
