Regular Season Round 7: Amazone - Loon Lions 50-61

Bottom-ranked Amazone (0-7) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to fifth ranked Loon Lions (3-3) 61-50 on Saturday evening. Loon Lions forced 27 Amazone turnovers. It was a great evening for international guard Tanya Broering (178-84) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. International power forward Fieke Ligthart (185-90) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Loon Lions' coach Molly McDowell used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Austria forward Camilla Neumann (181-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Spanish center Cristina Pujol (178-95) scored 15 points and 4 steals. Loon Lions have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 3-3 record. Amazone at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Loon Lions are looking forward to face higher ranked Grasshoppers (#3) in Katwijk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Amazone will play on the road against Rotterdam (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
