Regular Season Round 2: Gorizont - Victoria 91-49
Date: October 15, 2016
Rather expected game in Minsk where Victoria (0-2) was crushed by Gorizont (1-0) 91-49. The game was mostly controlled by Gorizont. Victoria was better in second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Victoria to just 3 points in third quarter. Gorizont dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Victoria's 28. Gorizont forced 27 Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 50-31 including a 27-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Yuliya Rytsikava (182-86) notched 17 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and international center Hanna Brych (183-97) supported her with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds by forward Iryna Krauchanka (182-1) did not help to save the game for Victoria. Point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (164-1) added 6 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gorizont will play against Sozh-GGU (#4) in Gomel in the next round. Victoria will play at home against BrGU COR Victoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
