Regular Season Round 8: Hiroshima D. - Shimane SM 77-55

Date: October 16, 2016
The biggest surprise took place in Hiroshima where host Dragonflies (6-2) crushed league's leader Shimane Magic (6-2) 77-55 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Dragonflies. Shimane Magic managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Shimane Magic to just 6 points in first quarter. 24 personal fouls committed by Shimane Magic helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Connor Lammert (206-94, college: Texas) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Cameron Ridley (206-93, college: Texas) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dragonflies keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Shimane Magic. Shimane Magic will play next round against Kagawa FA trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Dragonflies will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Kagoshima in Renova.
