Regular Season Round 2: Stal Ostrow - Trefl Sopot 70-73

A very interesting game took place in Ostrow Wlkp.. It ended with only three-point home defeat of Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (0-3) to Trefl (1-1) 73-70 on Sunday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-9. But Stal Ostrow Wlkp. won second period 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Anthony Ireland (175-91, college: Loyola Mary) notched 17 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) supported him with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Trefl players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds by the former international power forward Szymon Szewczyk (209-82) did not help to save the game for Stal Ostrow Wlkp.. American guard Porter Troupe (196-83, college: Portland, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points for the hosts. Stal Ostrow Wlkp.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Trefl's next round opponent will be Rosa (#5) in Radom and it may be quite challenging game. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. will play on the road against Stabill (#15) in Tarnobrzeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
