Regular Season Round 4: Novaschool - Meridiano Baza 49-72

Not a big story in a game in Malaga where bottom-ranked Novaschool (0-2) was rolled over by top-ranked Meridiano Baza (2-0) 72-49 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Meridiano Baza. Novaschool was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Novaschool to just 4 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Novaschool 34-22 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Javier Mesa (206-77) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 rebounds and center Jorge Rodriguez (198-94) who added 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side center Anastasio Vazquez (204-92) responded with 4 points and 8 rebounds and forward Jorge Pinazo (198-92) scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Meridiano Baza keeps a position of Group D-A leader, which they share with Cazorla. Loser Novaschool still closes the standings with two games lost. Meridiano Baza will face CAM E.Soler (#6) in Melilla in the next round where they are favorite. Novaschool will play at home against the league's leader Cazorla and hopes to get finally their first victory.
