Regular Season Round 8: Shinshu BW - Toyotsu FE 86-87

Not a big story in a game in Nagano where 4th ranked Shinshu BW (2-6) was edged by second ranked Toyotsu FE (7-1) 87-86 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Toyotsu FE dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Shinshu BW's 34. Shinshu BW was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Nigeria center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Yuto Otsuka (188-90) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and Yosuke Yosuke (184-85) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shinshu BW's coach Ryutaro Onodera rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyotsu FE have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Nishinomiya S. Shinshu BW at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Toyotsu FE will face Tokyo Excel. (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Shinshu BW will play against Tokyo Z and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
