Regular Season Round 8: Toyota Alvark - Sendai 89ers 91-69

There was no surprise when 4th ranked Sendai 89ers (3-5) were outleveled by second ranked Toyota Alvark (7-1) in Tokyo 91-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Sendai 89ers was better in fourth quarter 28-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-88, college: N.Mexico St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds and guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Sendai 89ers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Nagoya DD and Tochigi Brex. Sendai 89ers lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with five games lost. Toyota Alvark will face league's leader Tochigi Brex on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against Akita Happinets and hope to win that game.
