Regular Season Round 3: PeU-Basket - Munkkiniemen 61-77

There was a minor upset when PeU-Basket (0-2) lost to Munkkiniemen (1-2) in Pernio 61-77 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-61. It was a good game for guard Miika Heinonen (193-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Pyry Marttinen (184-99) contributed with 12 points for the winners. American forward Rilwan Bakare (201-90, college: Texas Wesleyan) answered with 12 points and 6 rebounds and forward Riku Laine (197-97) added 12 points in the effort for PeU-Basket. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Munkkiniemen will face Espoo Basket (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PeU-Basket will play against HyPo (#6) in Hyvinkaa and hopes to get finally their first victory.
